How to Write Your First Blog Post in WordPress
Publishing your first blog post in WordPress is an exciting milestone. Whether you’re creating a personal blog, business site, or niche publication, WordPress makes it easy to start writing and share your ideas with the world. Here’s a beginner-friendly guide to help you publish your very first post.
Step 1: Log In to Your WordPress Dashboard
Start by logging into your WordPress admin area. This is where you’ll create, edit, and manage all your content.
Step 2: Create a New Post
From the left sidebar, go to Posts and click Add New.
This opens the WordPress editor, where you can write and format your blog post.
Step 3: Add Your Title and Content
At the top, enter your blog post title.
Below it, write your content using the WordPress block editor. You can add text, images, quotes, headings, and more.
Step 4: Add Tags
In the Post settings panel, click on Tags.
Type a keyword related to your post and press Enter.
You can add multiple tags to help readers and search engines understand your content better.
Step 5: Select or Create a Category
Under Categories, choose an existing category or click Add New Category if this is your first post.
Categories help organize your blog and make navigation easier.
Step 6: Publish Your Post
Once everything looks good, click the Publish button at the top right.
WordPress will ask you to confirm — click Publish again.
Your first WordPress blog post is now live.
Final Tip
Don’t worry about perfection. You can always edit and update your post later. The important thing is getting started — and you’ve just done that.
